Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)
The Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) is designed for skilled workers with foreign work experience who wish to immigrate to Canada permanently.
Eligibility Criteria
Work Experience:
- At least one year of continuous full-time or equivalent paid work experience in a skilled occupation (NOC 0, A, B) within the last 10 years.
Language Proficiency:
- Minimum Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 7 in English or French in all four abilities (speaking, listening, reading, writing).
Education:
- A Canadian secondary or post-secondary certificate, diploma, or degree, or a foreign equivalent assessed by an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA).
Proof of Funds:
- Sufficient settlement funds to support yourself and your family unless you have a valid job offer or are already working in Canada.
Selection Grid:
- Score at least 67 points out of 100 on the FSWP selection grid, which assesses factors like age, education, work experience, language skills, adaptability, and job offer.
Process Overview
- Determine Eligibility: Ensure you meet the criteria listed above.
- Create Express Entry Profile: Submit an online profile and enter the Express Entry pool.
- CRS Score: Receive a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score based on your profile.
- Receive ITA: Higher CRS scores increase chances of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residency.
- Submit Application: If you receive an ITA, submit a complete application with required documents.
- Processing: IRCC processes applications, typically within six months.
- Receive COPR: If approved, receive Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR) and move to Canada as a permanent resident.
