Spouse or Common-Law Partner Sponsorship – In Short
Canadian citizens and permanent residents can sponsor their spouse or common-law partner to immigrate to Canada.
Eligibility
- Spouse: Married legally recognized spouse.
- Common-Law Partner: Living together in a conjugal relationship for at least one year.
Sponsorship Process
Eligibility Check:
- Ensure you meet the criteria as a Canadian citizen or permanent resident to sponsor your spouse or partner.
Submit Application:
- Complete and submit the sponsorship application with required documents to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
Processing:
- IRCC assesses the application, including proof of relationship and eligibility of both sponsor and sponsored partner.
Approval and Immigration:
- If approved, the sponsored spouse or partner receives permanent residency and can move to Canada.
