Parents & Grandparents Sponsorship – In Short

Canadian citizens and permanent residents can sponsor their parents and grandparents to immigrate to Canada.

Eligibility

  • Sponsorship Limitations: Limited annual quotas set by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
  • Financial Responsibility: Sponsors must commit to supporting their parents or grandparents financially.

Sponsorship Process

  1. Interest to Sponsor Form:

    • Submit an Interest to Sponsor form when it becomes available each year.
  2. Invitation to Apply (ITA):

    • Receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) if selected from the pool of interested sponsors.
  3. Submit Application:

    • Complete and submit the sponsorship application within the specified timeframe.
  4. Processing:

    • IRCC processes applications, assessing eligibility of both sponsor and sponsored family member.
  5. Approval and Immigration:

    • If approved, parents or grandparents receive permanent residency and can move to Canada.
