Invitation to Apply (ITA)

An Invitation to Apply (ITA) is an invitation from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) for candidates in the Express Entry pool to apply for permanent residency.

How to Receive an ITA

  1. Submit Profile: Create and submit an Express Entry profile.
  2. Enter Pool: Your profile is ranked based on your CRS score.
  3. Regular Draws: IRCC conducts regular draws and issues ITAs to candidates with scores above the cut-off.
  4. Higher Scores: Improve your CRS score to increase your chances, such as through provincial nominations or job offers.

Steps After Receiving an ITA

  1. Accept ITA: You have 60 days to accept and submit your application.
  2. Submit Application: Provide all required documents and complete the online application.
  3. Processing: IRCC processes applications within six months, possibly requesting additional information.
  4. Receive COPR: If approved, you’ll receive a Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR).
  5. Arrival in Canada: Present your COPR at a Canadian port of entry to become a permanent resident.
